Use the dashboard as your at-a-glance view of operations. It brings together job, client, staff, budget, spending, cost, and gross-profit information, with financial information shown only to people whose role allows them to view it.
Getting there
Sign in, then open Dashboard from the main navigation. The page greets you by first name and shows Here's an overview of your TreeSafe operations.
If you do not see Dashboard or are redirected elsewhere, your account may not have access to this area. Contact your administrator if you think you should have access.
Key concepts
Total Jobs counts all jobs.
Open Jobs counts jobs currently marked Open.
Clients counts active clients.
Active Staff counts staff currently marked Active.
The financial area is separate from the operational summary. It appears only when your role has permission to view financial information.
Financial job charts are based on open jobs. The gross-profit view is based on qualifying invoiced jobs, rather than the open jobs shown in the budget and spending area.
How to read dashboard information
Operational summary
The four summary cards provide quick counts for jobs, clients, and staff. Select a card to open the related area:
Select Total Jobs or Open Jobs to view jobs.
Select Clients to view clients.
Select Active Staff to view staff.
Job financial information
Under Job Overview, the financial cards and charts show information for all open jobs by default:
Used Budget shows the percentage of the total budget consumed. If there is no budget information yet, the card displays No budget data yet.
Estimated Cost vs Current Spending compares the estimated value with current spending for each job. Use the chart legend and hover over the bars to distinguish the two measures.
Cost Breakdown compares Labour, Plant, and Other costs for each job.
The job charts use the job name along the horizontal axis and currency values along the vertical axis. If there are no matching jobs, the charts display No job data yet or No cost data yet.
Gross profit
Gross Profit by Job Owner ranks job owners by gross-profit percentage, highest first. On a computer, the results appear in Job Owner and Gross Profit columns. On a smaller screen, each owner appears with their percentage.
Only invoiced, non-profit jobs with an estimated value above zero contribute to this view. If no matching results are available, it displays No gross profit data available yet.
How to use dashboard actions
Focus the job overview
In Job Overview, open the Job selector.
Choose a specific job, or leave it as All jobs.
Optionally open Manager and choose a manager, or leave it as All managers.
Select Search.
To remove the job and manager selections, select Clear.
The selected job or manager changes the budget, spending, and cost information. Choosing a specific job takes priority over choosing a manager, so the view focuses on that job.
Filter gross profit
In the gross-profit section, open Filter Type.
Choose one of the available options:
This FY — the current financial year; this is selected by default.
Last FY — the previous financial year.
Date Range — enter a Start Date and End Date.
Client — select a client.
Select Apply.
A date-range filter uses the dates you enter. A client filter shows results for the selected client. Applying a new gross-profit filter refreshes the dashboard results.
Tips & things to know
Use the summary cards when you need to move quickly from a count to its detailed list.
Start with All jobs and All managers for an overall open-job view, then narrow the results when investigating a particular job or manager.
The budget and spending charts describe open jobs, while gross profit describes qualifying invoiced work. Their totals are not intended to match.
Financial widgets may be hidden for your role. This is a permission setting, not necessarily a sign that the dashboard is missing data.
On a phone or tablet, selectors open as searchable lists. On larger screens, you can search within the selectors directly.
If a chart has no data, check whether your selected job or manager is too narrow, then use Clear to return to the overall view.
FAQ
Why can’t I see the financial charts?
Your role may not have permission to view financial information. Ask an administrator to review your access if you need these widgets for your work.
Why does the dashboard show no job data?
The financial charts show open jobs. There may be no open jobs, or your selected job or manager may not have matching open-job information. Select Clear and check again.
Why is my gross-profit list empty?
Gross profit includes only qualifying invoiced jobs with an estimated value above zero. The selected financial-year, date, client, or manager filters can also exclude all results.
Can I see a particular job’s budget and spending?
Yes. Select the job in the Job selector under Job Overview, then select Search.
Can I compare a manager’s open-job finances?
Yes, if you can view financial information. Choose a manager in the Manager selector and select Search.
What does “This FY” mean?
It means the current financial year configured for your account. The dashboard uses This FY as the default gross-profit filter.
Does the dashboard let me edit jobs or financial information?
No. The dashboard is for monitoring and filtering information. Use the linked jobs, clients, or staff areas to continue working with those records.
