Treesafe can keep essential tree-care work moving when your connection drops. It uses information already saved on your device for offline viewing and keeps supported changes ready to send when you reconnect. For the best phone experience, install Treesafe from the Install Treesafe page before you leave coverage.
Getting there
Treesafe takes you to the offline screen automatically when you try to open a page that is not available while your connection is down. The screen is headed You're offline and explains that the page has not been cached.
You can also open the offline screen directly if your organisation has provided its link. To prepare before going offline, open Install Treesafe from the Treesafe menu. This page also contains Sync status, where you can check what information is stored on your device.
Key concepts
Offline information is previously saved information. Treesafe can show records that were downloaded or saved locally while you were online. It cannot display information that has never reached your device.
Your latest saved version may not be current. Each available page shows how many records are stored and when they were last synced. Check the sync time before relying on a record in the field.
Supported changes are saved for later. When you submit supported work without a connection, Treesafe updates the screen straight away and keeps the change pending until it can be sent.
Pending changes are not confirmed by the server yet. Treat a pending item as waiting to sync, not as fully submitted or approved.
Offline availability depends on your access and preparation. You will only see information that your account can access and that has been stored on that device.
How to start working offline
While you still have a connection, sign in and open the areas you expect to need in the field. Treesafe uses these visits to prepare pages and their local information.
Open Install Treesafe and review Sync status.
In Local data, check that the relevant information has records and a recent sync time. If there is no local information yet, select Refresh now while online.
If you use a phone or tablet, install Treesafe for easier access. On iPhone or iPad, open the Safari Share menu, choose Add to Home Screen, then select Add. On Android Chrome, choose Install app or Add to Home screen if the install button is not shown. On desktop Chrome or Edge, use the address-bar install icon or the browser menu and choose Install Treesafe.
When the connection is unavailable, open Treesafe from the installed app or return to the areas you prepared. Use the offline screen if the page you requested is not available.
Complete supported work as usual. Treesafe may show your new or edited item immediately with a pending state until it is sent.
Treesafe specifically advertises offline submission for clock-ins, safety forms and time sheets. Supported booking work, jobsheet submissions, and several safety forms can also be held for later synchronisation. Availability can vary by screen and by your permissions, so test the exact workflow before relying on it in a remote area.
How to view available offline information
When you are offline, the offline screen shows two useful lists:
Recently visited shows up to six pages you opened recently and the time since each visit. Select one to return to it.
Pages with offline data shows pages with locally stored records. Select a page to open it. Each entry shows its record count and when it was synced.
The available page names include Bookings, Jobs, Time Sheets, Staff, Assets, Clients, Hazards, SRA, Site inspections, Asset inspections, Accident incidents, SQIF, Corrective actions, and Timesheets. The exact list depends on what has been synced to your device.
If both lists are empty, Treesafe displays You haven't opened any offline-capable pages yet, and no data has been synced to this device. Reconnect and visit a page (e.g. Daily, Jobs) to download data for offline use. Reconnect before attempting field work, then visit the required pages and select Refresh now.
How to return online
Restore your connection, such as by reconnecting to Wi-Fi or enabling mobile data.
Return to Treesafe and allow a moment for the connection to be recognised.
Treesafe attempts to send pending changes and refresh local information automatically when it detects the connection.
To send pending work yourself, open Install Treesafe, go to Sync status, and select Retry now under Pending uploads.
To download the latest available information, select Refresh now. This option is available only while online.
Check that Pending uploads says All caught up and review any Failed items.
The offline screen may show Back online and Reloading the page you tried to open… when the connection returns. You can also select Try again. It is unavailable while you are offline.
Tips & things to know
Prepare before travelling: open the pages, records and forms you will need while online.
Use Refresh now before leaving coverage, especially when schedules, crews, assets or safety information may have changed.
Check the displayed sync time. Offline records can be out of date.
Keep the Treesafe app or browser open briefly after reconnecting so pending work has time to send.
Do not clear browser or app storage while offline if you still have pending work; locally stored information and unsent changes may be removed.
Photos captured as part of supported safety work can be kept for sending later, but allow time for them to upload after reconnecting.
If a change remains pending, do not repeatedly create the same record. Check Pending uploads first to avoid duplicates.
Some administrative pages are not intended for offline use. If a page is not listed under Pages with offline data, return online to use it.
Installing Treesafe improves access on mobile. On browsers that do not support installation, open Treesafe in Chrome on Android or desktop, or Safari on iPhone or iPad.
FAQ
Can I use Treesafe offline without installing it?
The offline page and previously prepared pages can be available in a supported browser, but Treesafe recommends installing the app for full offline support on a phone or tablet. Prepare and sync your required pages before losing coverage.
Can I see every Treesafe page offline?
No. Only pages that are supported and have local information are available. The offline screen lists the pages currently available on your device.
Will offline changes be sent automatically?
Treesafe attempts to send supported pending changes when your connection returns. You can also open Sync status and choose Retry now. Confirm the result in Pending uploads and Failed.
Does a pending change mean it was accepted?
No. It means Treesafe saved the change on your device and is waiting to send it. It becomes server-confirmed only after synchronisation succeeds.
Why is my offline information old?
The device shows the last version that was synced. Reconnect and select Refresh now to download current information before working offline again.
What happens if a pending item fails?
It appears under Failed with an error message. Select Retry after correcting the problem or restoring a reliable connection. Select Discard only when you are certain you no longer need to send that item.
Troubleshooting
I see You're offline, but I expected to work on a page
The requested page has not been cached on this device. Return to a page under Recently visited or Pages with offline data. If the page is missing, reconnect, visit it, and select Refresh now.
The available lists are empty
Reconnect and open the pages you need. Then go to Install Treesafe and select Refresh now. If the lists remain empty, check that you are signed in with the account that has access to the required information.
My new item is not visible
Check whether the action is supported offline and look under Pending uploads. If it is pending, the item may be shown locally until it is sent. If it is not visible at all, reconnect and submit it online, or contact your supervisor or administrator.
Pending uploads are not sending
Confirm that Treesafe shows Online — live data on the sync page. Wait briefly, then select Retry now. If the item moves to Failed, read the displayed error, select Retry after fixing the issue, or ask your administrator for help.
Treesafe says Back online, but the page still does not open
Select Try again or wait for the automatic reload to finish. If the connection is intermittent, move to a location with a stronger signal and retry.
I installed Treesafe but offline mode is not available
Open the installed app once while online, sign in, visit the required pages, and use Refresh now. On iPhone or iPad, installation must be completed from Safari; other browsers do not currently support Treesafe installation. On Android or desktop, use Chrome or Edge and look for the browser’s install option.
I am worried about losing unsent work
Do not clear the browser or app data, uninstall Treesafe, or sign out until the device is online and Pending uploads shows All caught up. If an item is under Failed, leave it there while you seek help or retry it when the connection is reliable.
