Clock in and out

Verified against commit 6c69a4b5 min read

Record the start of a workday in the app by selecting the staff member who has arrived. The app records the arrival time and compares it with the expected start time for punctuality reporting. The current Clock In screen records arrivals only; a separate clock-out action is not currently available in the verified product flow.

Getting there

  1. Sign in to the app.
  2. Open Clock In.

The page is available to signed-in staff, foremen, managers, and administrators. It is designed to work well on a shared morning device, so each person selects their own name before submitting.

Key concepts

How to clock in

  1. On the Clock In page, select Staff Member *.
  2. Choose the person who is starting work. On a phone or tablet, tap Select staff member... and search with Search staff... if needed.
  3. If you are an administrator, check or update Date, Time Stamp, and Expected Start Time.
  4. Select Clock In.
  5. Wait for the confirmation Clock-in recorded successfully. The form clears ready for the next person.

If the submission is still being processed, the button shows Recording.... Do not submit again while it is shown.

How to clock out

The verified workflow includes Clock In for recording staff arrival, but it does not include a customer-facing clock-out control or finish-time field. To record finishing times, use your organisation’s existing timesheet process, or contact your administrator for guidance on the process your account uses.

Do not use a second clock-in to represent finishing work: it will create another arrival record rather than a clock-out.

Tips & things to know

FAQ

Can I clock in another crew member?

Yes. The Clock In screen uses the active staff list on the shared device, so any signed-in user who can access the screen can select a staff member. Confirm the name carefully before submitting.

Why can’t I edit the time?

Date and time fields are shown only to administrators. Other users submit the selected person’s current arrival time, together with the company expected start time.

Can I clock in a tablet account?

No. Tablet-only accounts are excluded from the staff selection list because they are not treated as individual people for this workflow.

What does punctuality mean?

It is the number of minutes between the recorded arrival time and the expected start time. A positive difference means the arrival was later than expected; a negative difference means it was earlier.

Where do I record leaving time?

A clock-out control is not present in the verified Clock In workflow. Follow your organisation’s timesheet process or ask an administrator which finish-time process to use.

Troubleshooting

The staff member is not listed

Confirm that the person has an active staff profile and is not a tablet-only account. On a larger screen, use the staff search field; on a phone or tablet, open Select staff member... and use Search staff.... If the person still does not appear, contact an administrator.

I tried to submit without selecting a name

Select a person in Staff Member *. The app requires this field before it will record the arrival.

The confirmation says the record was saved offline

Your arrival has been retained for synchronisation. Reconnect to the internet and allow the app to sync. Do not create a duplicate clock-in while waiting.

The form says the clock-in failed

Check your connection, confirm that you selected the correct staff member, and try again once. If the problem continues, note the staff member and approximate time, then contact your administrator or support.

The recorded time or punctuality is wrong

Ask an administrator to review the record in the punctuality area. Administrators can correct the date, arrival time, and expected start time; managers can also correct records. Punctuality is recalculated from the corrected times.
