Treesafe’s mobile app helps you keep tree-care work moving when you are away from the office. Install it on a phone, tablet, or supported computer to access prepared work information, complete supported field tasks, capture inspection photos, and send your updates when a connection is available.
Getting there
You need a Treesafe staff account to open the mobile-app area. From Treesafe, open the mobile-app area from your main navigation or profile menu. The page is titled Install Treesafe and includes the description “Get Treesafe on your device + monitor offline sync”.
If Treesafe displays an installation prompt or banner while you work, you can use that to open the installation instructions. You can also return to the mobile-app area whenever you need to check connection, pending uploads, or local data.
Key concepts
Installed app: Treesafe can be added to your device’s home screen or app drawer. Opening it from there provides the best offline experience and avoids normal browser controls.
Online: When you have a connection, Treesafe uses live data. The app can also refresh information so it is available if you later lose signal.
Offline: You can continue with supported field work without a signal. Your changes are kept on the device and shown as pending until they can be sent.
Sync: Sync sends pending work to Treesafe and refreshes information on your device. When the connection returns, pending submissions are processed automatically.
Local data: This shows the records currently stored on the device, along with when each group was last refreshed.
How to install and open the mobile app
iPhone or iPad
Open Treesafe in Safari.
Tap the Share button in the Safari toolbar. On iPhone it is at the bottom of the screen; on iPad it is in the top-right.
Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
Tap Add in the top-right corner.
Open Treesafe from your home screen.
Android phone or tablet
Open Treesafe in Chrome.
If the page shows Install Treesafe, tap it and follow the prompt.
If no install button is shown, open Chrome’s three-dot menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
Open Treesafe from your home screen or app drawer.
Computer
Open Treesafe in Chrome or Edge. If Install Treesafe is available, select it. Otherwise, look for the install icon on the right side of the address bar, or open the browser menu and choose Install Treesafe.
On a browser that does not support installation, open Treesafe in Chrome on Android or desktop, or Safari on iPhone or iPad. After installation, the page confirms Treesafe is installed and advises you to open it from your home screen or app drawer for full offline support.
How to complete work in the mobile app
Before leaving a connected area, open the app and check Connection. When it reads Online — live data, select Refresh now to download the latest available information for offline use.
Open the work, booking, or safety area you need and review the information stored on your device.
Complete the field task in the same way as you would in Treesafe: record clock-ins, fill in supported safety forms, complete time sheets, or carry out a site inspection.
Use your device camera and photo access when you need to add photos to a site inspection.
Submit or save your work. If you are offline, the submission is kept on the device and appears under Pending uploads.
When you are connected again, leave the app open briefly so pending work can sync. You can also select Retry now in the sync area.
Confirm that Pending uploads shows All caught up before treating the work as fully sent.
The mobile app supports offline submissions for clock-ins, safety forms, and time sheets. Other Treesafe areas may need a connection, so prepare the required information before travelling to a low-signal site.
How to switch between online and offline use
Treesafe detects the connection available on your device; there is no manual mode switch. In Connection:
Online — live data means Treesafe can use current information and send submissions.
Offline — changes will sync when back online means you can continue with supported work, but updates wait on the device until a connection returns.
To prepare for offline work:
Connect to the internet.
Open the mobile app.
Select Refresh now.
Check Local data and confirm that the records you need are present.
Refresh now is unavailable while offline. Reconnect, then use it to refresh the device’s information and make the wider app ready for offline use.
Tips & things to know
Install Treesafe before visiting a site with unreliable signal, and open the installed version at least once while online.
Refresh immediately before travelling so the device has recent work information.
Check Local data before starting. If it says “No local data yet”, select Refresh now while online.
Keep the app open long enough for photos and submissions to finish uploading when you regain signal.
A pending item is not confirmation that Treesafe has received the submission. Check Pending uploads and wait for All caught up.
The app page shows up to six pending items at once; additional items are grouped as more queued uploads.
If an upload fails, review the message shown under Failed, then choose Retry after correcting the problem. Choose Discard only when you no longer want to send that item.
Camera and photo access are used for site inspections. Allow those permissions when your device asks, if your organisation’s policy permits it.
Keep enough free device storage for local records and inspection photos.
FAQ
Can I use Treesafe without mobile signal?
Yes, for supported work. The app can accept clock-ins, safety forms, and time sheets without signal, and it can keep inspection photos on the device for later upload. Refresh the app while online first.
Will my offline work sync automatically?
Yes. When the connection returns, Treesafe attempts to send pending changes. You can monitor progress under Pending uploads and use Retry now if needed.
How do I know whether information is ready offline?
Open Local data after selecting Refresh now while online. The record count and last refresh time show what is stored on the device.
Can I install the app in any browser?
Installation is currently supported through Safari on iPhone and iPad, and Chrome on Android or desktop. If installation is unavailable in your browser, open Treesafe in one of those supported browsers.
What happens if I close the app while work is pending?
Pending work is retained on the device and can sync when you reconnect. Reopen the installed app and check Pending uploads before leaving the device unattended.
Why do I see only some of my work offline?
Offline information must have been refreshed to your device, and some Treesafe areas require a connection. Refresh while online and check Local data before starting field work.
Troubleshooting
The install option is not showing
On iPhone or iPad, confirm that you are using Safari, then use Share → Add to Home Screen → Add.
On Android, open Chrome’s three-dot menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
On a computer, check the right side of the address bar or the browser menu for Install Treesafe.
If you are using another browser, switch to Safari on iPhone or iPad, or Chrome on Android or desktop.
The app says “No local data yet”
Reconnect to the internet and select Refresh now. Wait for the refresh to finish, then check Local data again. If the records you need are still missing, confirm that you are signed in with the correct staff account and contact your Treesafe administrator.
A submission is stuck under Pending uploads
Check Connection. If the app is offline, move to a connected area and reopen Treesafe. When online, select Retry now and watch the pending count. Do not submit the same work repeatedly unless you have confirmed that the first item failed.
An item appears under Failed
Read the error shown with the item. Correct the underlying issue if you can, then select Retry. If you do not want to send the item, select Discard. A submission that continues to fail is moved out of the pending list after five attempts; contact your supervisor or administrator before discarding important work.
Photos are not uploading
Check that Treesafe has camera and photo access, that the device has free storage, and that you have a reliable connection. Keep the app open while the upload retries. If it remains under Failed, use Retry and share the displayed error with your administrator.
Treesafe shows the wrong connection status
Move to a reliable network, wait a moment, and reopen the mobile app. Then check Connection and select Refresh now when it becomes available. If the status remains wrong, record whether other apps can access the internet and contact your administrator.
