Use this guide to resolve common issues with Projects, Add project, and New estimate in 3PM Estimator. It covers creating a project, finding projects, understanding project statuses, and handling deletion and estimate problems.
A project needs a name. Enter a name in Project name before selecting Continue. The project name can be up to 120 characters.
Project location is optional. If you add it, select a suggested location so 3PM Estimator can use the location for regional labour and material pricing and the GST rate. The location is shared by every estimate in that project.
If Continue does not respond, check that the project name is not blank and that the project is not already being created. While creation is in progress, the button shows “Creating…”.
A project is created before its first estimate. Open the project and select New estimate. On a new project, you can also select Continue after entering the project details to move to estimate creation.
A project with no estimates shows “No estimates yet”. This is normal and does not mean the project was lost.
The project card displays the status and total from the newest estimate, not a combined total of every estimate. If a project has several estimates, open the project to review them side by side.
Projects can show these statuses:
Only workspace owners and admins can delete a project. Members can create and edit estimates but cannot delete a project. If you need it removed, ask a workspace owner or admin.
Deletion is available from the project card in Projects. It is not available from the project detail page.
Warning: Deleting a project also deletes every estimate under it, including priced lines, chat history, and uploaded drawings or specs. This can't be undone.
Open the project and review the estimates shown there. If you have just created or updated an estimate, refresh the project page. If it still does not appear, return to Projects, reopen the project, and check that you are in the correct active workspace.
Use these steps in order:
If Add project fails after you enter a valid project name, try again with a shorter name and without leaving the page while it is loading. If the issue continues, note the project name, workspace, and what happened, then contact 3PM Estimator support.
No. A project holds the job details and can contain multiple estimates. An estimate contains the scope, attachments, pricing, and estimate results for that project.
Yes. Project location is optional. Without a location, regional pricing and the GST rate use your workspace defaults.
Yes. Open the project and select New estimate. Estimates remain side by side rather than replacing one another.
Draft means the project has been created but does not have an estimate yet. Open the project and select New estimate.
Workspace owners and admins can delete a project. Members cannot. Deleting the project also deletes every estimate under it, and the action cannot be undone.
Open the estimate from the project, read the message shown there, and follow its instructions. Then refresh the project page. The project status reflects the newest estimate, so it can remain Error until a later estimate completes successfully.
