Use New estimate in 3PM Estimator to create an estimate for an existing Project. Add a clear scope, include supporting Documents when you have them, choose the Estimate format and Model, then create the estimate so the AI can prepare the quantities and pricing for review.
You can also select New estimate from the empty-estimate message on a Project with no estimates yet.
The Create estimate action becomes available after you enter a Scope. You can also use the displayed keyboard shortcut while the Scope field is active.
New estimate is opened from an existing Project, so the Project is selected before you begin. The Project name appears at the top, and its location is shown when one has been set.
Project name and location are not edited in New estimate. To estimate a different job, return to Projects, open the correct Project, and select New estimate there.
Put estimate-specific information in Scope, including:
If the Project has a location, 3PM Estimator shows it beside the Project information. If no location is set, regional pricing and the GST rate use your workspace defaults.
The New estimate page prepares the information for estimation; quantities are available in the created estimate for review. Add clear measurements and relevant Documents before creating it when quantity accuracy matters.
Enter text in the required Scope field. Spaces alone do not count as a Scope description.
Check that the file is one of the supported types and no larger than 25 MB. Also check that you have not already added 10 Documents or exceeded the 60 MB combined limit. Remove an added Document if you need to make room, then try again.
Return to Projects, open the intended Project, and select New estimate from that Project. Project information is taken from the Project you opened.
Check your connection and try again. If the problem continues, confirm that the Scope is still present and try creating the estimate without optional Documents. If the error remains, contact your 3PM Estimator support contact with the Project name and the message shown.
Open Estimating defaults and review the workspace settings. You can choose a different Model or Estimate format on New estimate before creating the estimate.
Yes. Documents are optional. A clear Scope is required.
Yes. A Project can contain multiple estimates, which remain available side by side rather than replacing one another.
No. New estimate uses the existing Project. Update the Project separately, then start a new estimate from it.
Choose Claude Haiku 4.5 for the fastest option, Claude Sonnet 5 for balanced analysis, or Claude Opus 5 for the deepest analysis of larger or more complex material.
No. The selected Estimate format is fixed once the estimate exists. Create another estimate if you need to prepare the same Project in a different format.
After you select Create estimate, open the created estimate from the Project. Review its quantities against the Scope and Documents you provided.
