Use this guide to resolve common issues while using New estimate in 3PM Estimator. You can check the project, scope, Documents, Estimate format, and Model selections before you create the estimate.
A project must already exist before you can prepare an estimate. You can add multiple estimates to the same project; creating a new estimate does not replace the existing estimates.
Scope is required. Enter a scope description before creating the estimate. The button remains unavailable while the scope is empty or while 3PM Estimator is creating the estimate.
A paragraph is enough to get started, but include useful project detail wherever possible. Describe the project scope, size, structure, finishes, timeline, and anything else the estimate should account for. You can also use the voice control in the Scope area to provide the description.
3PM Estimator accepts PDF, PNG, JPG, JPEG, WEBP, GIF, Word, Excel, CSV, and Markdown files. Each file can be up to 25 MB, and you can attach up to 10 files.
If a file is larger than 25 MB, 3PM Estimator may display a size error, and the file is skipped during upload. Remove it and attach a smaller version. If you have more than 10 files, keep the most relevant Documents or combine them before attaching them.
The total size of all attached files must not exceed 60 MB. Remove one or more files or reduce their sizes, then try Create estimate again. Check that the files are still listed under Documents before retrying.
If creation still fails, remove attachments one at a time and try again. This helps identify whether one particular file is preventing the estimate from being created.
Review Estimate format and Model before selecting Create estimate. The selected Estimate format is fixed for that estimate once it is created. If you need a different format, create another estimate with the required selection.
The Model picker includes Claude Haiku 4.5, Claude Sonnet 5, and Claude Opus 5. Claude Haiku 4.5 is marked “Fastest · recommended”, Claude Sonnet 5 is marked “Balanced”, and Claude Opus 5 is marked “Deepest analysis”.
Return to Projects and select the project again before opening New estimate. If the project is not listed, check that you are using the correct workspace in 3PM Estimator.
If your selections keep reverting, review Settings. The Estimating defaults area supplies the starting selections for new estimates. You can still review the selections on New estimate before creating the estimate.
If an error appears after you select Create estimate, check the scope and attachments first, then try again. If the issue continues with a valid scope and attachments, try creating the estimate without Documents. Add only the essential files to a new attempt.
