Account settings — Profile and Settings

Key concepts

• Profile controls the name 3PM Estimator displays for you. Your Email and avatar are shown for reference and cannot be edited here.
• Settings applies to the current organization. Its estimating defaults are used when you start a new estimate; changing them does not change existing estimates.
• The Workspace section shows the organization name and handle. These details are read-only in 3PM Estimator. Select Run setup again to refresh company details, or use Rename in 3PM when that option is available.
• Estimating defaults includes the values that new estimates start with, including the Default model, Default estimate format, Currency, Cost-basis region, Area unit, GST rate, standard adjustments, and House pricing rules.
• Members with the Owner or Admin role can change organization details and estimating defaults. Members with the Member role can create and edit estimates, but cannot change those organization-wide defaults.

How to update Profile

1. Open Profile from the avatar menu.
2. Enter your name in First name and Last name.
3. Select Save changes.

Your name is local to 3PM Estimator. It changes how you appear to teammates in 3PM Estimator, but does not change your 3PM account or other apps in the suite.

To undo a local name change, select Reset to my 3PM name. This clears the local name so your 3PM name is used again.

Your Email is your sign-in address and is read-only in Profile. If your user record cannot be loaded, sign out and back in. If the problem continues, contact your administrator.

How to configure Settings

1. Select Settings in the sidebar.
2. Make sure the organization you want to configure is selected in the sidebar switcher.
3. Select the Estimating tab.
4. Update the defaults you want to use for new estimates:
   • Choose a Default model.
   • Choose a Default estimate format.
   • Enter a three-letter Currency code, such as NZD or AUD.
   • Enter a Cost-basis region when you want a default region used for projects without an address.
   • Choose an Area unit.
   • Enter a GST rate from 0 to 100.
   • Set the percentages under Standard adjustments: Preliminaries & General, Overhead, Contingency, and Margin. Each value must be between 0 and 100.
   • Add up to 2,000 characters under House pricing rules for pricing guidance such as labour rates, preferred subcontractors, or exclusions.
5. Select Save defaults.

The standard adjustments are applied as percentages of direct cost in the order shown. GST is applied on top of the GST-exclusive total. Use Discard changes to return the form to its last saved values before saving.

If you do not have permission to edit organization defaults, the relevant sections are marked View only. You can still view the current values.

If no organization is active, select or create one from the sidebar switcher before configuring Settings.

How to Manage the team

1. Open Settings and select Manage the team, or select Team in the sidebar.
2. Review the Members list to see who can access the current organization and their roles.
3. Use the available team controls to manage members and invitations.
4. Review Pending invitations when you need to check invitations that have not yet been accepted.

The Team area also explains what each role can do:

• Owner has full control, including deleting the workspace and managing owners. Ownership is transferred in 3PM.
• Admin can manage members, invitations, and estimating defaults.
• Member can create and edit estimates.

Only Owners and Admins can manage members and invitations. Only an Owner can assign the Owner role. The last Owner cannot leave or be removed until ownership is transferred.

Tips & things to know

• Select the correct organization before changing Settings. The values belong to the current organization.
• Save changes and Save defaults are explicit actions; your edits are not saved until you select the relevant button.
• A blank or invalid percentage prevents Save defaults from becoming available. Keep percentage values between 0 and 100.
• Currency accepts a three-letter code. The field converts letters to uppercase.
• Default estimate format is selected when an estimate starts and is fixed for a project once it is created.
• The example beneath Standard adjustments shows how the rates affect direct cost, excluding GST.
• Integrations is also available in Settings and does not require an active organization.
